That is the way GPL works. You don't have to use GPLed code if you don't want your code to be GPL. Take some libraries that are not GPL, say GTK instead of QT. The purpose of GPL is protecting everyone's freedom and make sure middlemen does not strip those. So this (not able to use other licenses) is a cost one has to pay for ensuring freedom.
