I have a feeling that high speed broadband is being deliberately kept
expensive in India to keep the monopoly of the big conventional media
players. Even HD video conferencing is not possible at current speeds.
However nowadays many websites are offering live TV of Indian channels
in free as well as paid format, depending on the type of channel. I use
different apps. on my N8 to watch live TV channels through 3G (for a
short time) or WiFi. A lot of news and some entertainment and movie
channels are available for free. However picture quality is so-so 320x240.
