I've used kde for many years, and yes, at the beginning of last winter I moved from Mandriva 2005LE to Kubuntu 9.08. I've had so much trouble with the KDE implementation I'm seriously considering moving back to the latest Mandriva. I, similarly to others, welcome it's purchase by some astute business people even though it will probably mean a move from relying on desktop sales to relying on server sales. I suppose I could always move to the people from Provo; they seem to know what they're doing, and after all I once did well selling Netware 3 (that was a while ago).
