I do, as well; on our backup systems.  The purpose of the drive is simply to 
install Linux on it, then Windows as a virtual system, to make sure it works.

After that I'll wipe the 500 GB drive which comes with the laptop, and install 
on it.

For what it's worth, my netbook has a 40G SSD, and it's not even near a third 
full.  For business use, I don't need that much.
