Mint has a KDE variant (version 12) that I like. I hated the variants
prior to this release (really buggy for me). This version 12 variant
is based off of Ubuntu 11.10. This is the only desktop (lately) that
works for me for DV video editing. KDEnlive doesn't crash here, K3B
works well, Audacity is good here too. I haven't tested HandBrake too
much here, but all in all, it's a stable build.

When it first came out Ubuntu added a bunch of usability (and
especially installability) features to Debian. And Mint's Gnome
variant hasn't added much in the way of usability features, it's
sure retained a lot of them which Ubuntu appears to have taken away.
One last try (probably this weekend) at Kubuntu for me (I still like
KDE), and if it doesn't work, then to play with Mint.
