Try several, personally I like the Debian based distros, but there are tons of flavors don't just pick pick the mint chocolate chip because me or any other yahoo suggest it try several I tend to change the distro on one of my computers every couple of months. That said, community support is a real big consideration and the Ubuntu family has it in spades.
