On the other hand, model kits of characters are never as popular as model kits 
of mechanicals in the US.  You might be able to find a model kit of a character 
in a comic shop or store that specializes in anime.  But you'd never find them 
in something like Electronics Boutique (which was actually carrying MG Gundam 
kits several years ago).  Mechanical models have much greater market acceptance 
in the US than any other type of model, which means that shows that don't have 
mechanicals (including Naruto and FMA) are going to have a harder time gaining 
market share in this area.


And OT - Taiwan?  Something going on over there?  You're right in that it 
hasn't been in the news lately.  And as far as Google is concerned, I wouldn't 
trust them any further than I can throw them.  I've heard so many complaints 
about the criteria that they use to select their news sources that I'm 
surprised one of the big news companies hasn't done a story on it.
