That being said the aerial combat in Macross was extremely chaotic. They
were moving very fast so it would be hard not to get hit by frie by design.
The missles were flying all over the place which is great when you are
enclosed by an enemy ship. And of course anime plot mechanics dictated that
Hikaru had to be shot down.
Sure. I'm just saying that, as far as circumstantial evidence goes,
the case for Hikaru goes both ways. It's not like we had people
coming out and saying he was a stellar pilot, the way they did for
Max and Millia.
