Yeah, you don't find too many people in the middle ground. Reason I'm
there is that, when I originally saw the series, I followed it
closely enough to know it didn't quite add up, and that prompted me
to do some research about it on the web. That led to me finding out
why Anno did things the way he did, and it made me go back and
rewatch the end with that in mind. As such, I understand the series
and the motivations of its director better than most, and that
ultimately allowed me to just watch it and let it go instead of
getting sucked into one side or the other of the debate.
Basically, it is what it is, and it's not worth getting riled up
about it one way or the other. <shrug>
