Actually they do serve a purpose as they had guns on the end. Their aim can
be adjusted without having to change the position of the whole mecha unlike
the shoulder cannons. The shoulder cannons were good for hitting stationary
targets but that is about it.
As opposed to, y'know, a *tank.* With a *turret.*
