Also note Uk's Nominet who operate uk.com, gb.com and gb.net as
de facto TLD's a la co.uk. They have their own registry, whois
servers, everything. In fact the president of the company (name
escapes me, it's been a long time since we've conversed) actually
sits on the board of advisors or whatever it is for the .co.uk
registry.
They are also planning on rolling out other geo-specific SLD's,
but I think I was supposed to keep my mouth shut about the
specifics when they told me about it. So I will.
When I secured "versus.ms" some of my friends suggested selling
"versus.ms" domain names. I haven't done this but I have assigned
a few to parties who expressed an interest, "freebsd.versus.ms"
is gone, "openbsd.versus.ms" is reserved and I operate "linux.versus.ms"
as a side project ("unix.versus.ms" is aliased to linux for now)
