There were several ways to add more memory to the C64 (megabytes), and
harddrives (up to 20Meg per hd),, and the 65C02, which ran at a blazing
4Mhz. There was a dual 6502 cpu per chip too. I had a C64 hooked to 3
Modicons in an industrial environment, providing data they couldn't.  And
had a C64 on two HPIB as controllers. Btw, there is still ongoing work on
the 65xxx family, the lastest is a 20Mhz dual cpu design with FPLDs as the
cpu cores, and at least one that is 100% pin compatable with a 6502.
