The word "censorship" has too much ugly emotional baggage for me,
so I'll stick with the term "moderation". I am entirely supportive
of the following forms of moderation for REBOL mailing list(s),
especially since someone else is providing my subscription for free:
1) One must be signed up in order to post to that list (this is
already in place). I am ENTIRELY in favor of such a policy,
due to the number of junk mailers and spammers who routinely abuse
my in-box.
2) On the Python mailing list (for example, as all mailing lists
have such occurrences, sooner or later) I've observed the
occasional thread that goes totally off topic. In such cases, Guido
himself, as the chief moderator, has been known to ask the
participants to take it off line. Assuming that the moderator isn't
too quick on the trigger, I am in favor of the moderator having the
authority to make such a request (and the power to back it up, in
extreme cases).
3) Using other mailing lists and newsgroups as inspiration, I can
foresee a time when there would be multiple lists, each focused
on a specific topic within the REBOL universe (general REBOL
programming, GUI programming with REBOL/View, CGI in REBOL, etc.)
It seems entirely reasonable that one or more moderators have the
authority (and ability) to route messages from one list to another
to preserve the stated purpose of each. (Obviously, it would be
desirable to have a courtesy note back to the original poster.)
There are probably others, but those occur to me quickly.
