I am not talking about bug-compatibility at all; you distort the debate by 
suggesting that I am. I quoted RFC2060; bincimap SHOULD be doing some 
things that it doesn't. It's clearly not off-topic to discuss the issue 
here.

Sure, but I hope you are not suggesting that projects should be forked 
without any discussion.
