Music to my ears! J

We’ve had some very interesting discussions with MS about this very subject and we’ve actually been working on this as a side project effectively to reduce the start up costs for small development companies so they don’t have to use the likes of CVS or subversion, and then allow them build their TFS environment as they grow.

Of course the concept of hosting with a lot of MS products is not quite there and of course there’s the economics. We would want to offer such a product on a monthly basis, (we do this with lots of MS products under a Service Provider Licensing Agreement – SPLA) – but there is no provision under SPLA for this product. Our discussions with product managers for TFS is that we need to establish a business case for this and get an idea on figures etc before they can put this. Technically there should be no problems, and there is a patch release later in the year that should fix a few issues for hosting environments.

But what I need to know is:

-          Who is interested

-          What functionality do you expect

-          How much as a BUSINESS you would expect to pay (developers want everything for free)

-          Is this a good idea or does it suck?

I’m all for it, but to leverage off our big environment I need a critical mass to move upwards

Cheers

Subject: [OzTFS] Hosted TFS

Hey guys,

I’ve been wondering if it would be possible to get hosted TFS? I know it integrates heavily with AD but I do remember (from the beta 1 installation that we tried out) that it’s possible to have users connect remotely to it without being on the domain.

So, does anybody know of a host that’d be willing to do that? (other than getting a dedicated server of course).

Am seriously keen in trying it out, but since it’s still in beta I wont drag it into the development team at work (can’t risk it).
