If you are concerned about your TFS trial expiring then please visit the
following link. It is from one of the MS devs working on TFS.

http://blogs.msdn.com/bharry/archive/2006/10/04/Last-word-on-TFS-Expirations-_2800_I-hope_2900_.aspx

That link has instructions on:
- how to extract your TFS product key from the media provided by MS (your
license key is embedded in the "setup.sdb" file on the dvd)
- how to upgrade a trial TFS install

He also includes a very useful tool that gives a 30 day extension to the
trial period (only able to use it once of course). This can be applied
after an install expires.

[OzTFS] Whoa! Close call!! :)

Whoa :)

Got to work this morning and found out that our TFS had expired! I
swear i checked to see when the expiry was due ... and i thought it was
upgrade when we purchased the keys/cals.

I know we have a key (and a huge bucket of CALS) so I wasn't stressing
... until the IT dept couldn't find they key! Er -- WTF? On some EOpen
website they were showing me, it lists all the products and the keys etc
but for TFS there was nothing! (ie. this product doesn't have a volume
license key or something geeky like that ... i'm so glad i don't need the
degree required to handle licesning).

Now I was starting to worry (just a tiny bit) because i was thinking
it would take some time to ring the suppliers and get the key for the
server. In the mean time i'm already starting to think of plan B, C, D,
etc.. It's not good when you have 20+ developers starting to get restless
:(

So i tried one last thing before I started raising the issue from
embarassing to serious -> run the TFS install and see if the key is
'grey'd out' in the setup wizard before it starts doing the main main main
install. I've noticed this with other products i've recieved from MSDN
before.

Yep it was and yes it worked when i upgraded our TFS from (i'm
guessing) RTM 1.0 -> whatever the physical CD/DVD the IT guys purchased.

Close call and now 20+ happen developers once again.

   Can't. Live. Without. Tfs. :)
