Also bear in mind the licensing restrictions, i.e. the requirement that by opening up TFS to your customers you will require a CAL for them (or an external connector license)

I am currently playing with Team Plain and found it a bit cumbersome in terms of setting the security. It seems there are few overlapping with TFS, SharePoint and Team Plain in term of security.
