Hi Ginny,

If you don't get the book Twilight in time to jump in on the discussion,
I'll talk with you. It's a book that you need to have a conversation with
someone! Feel free to email me if you'd like!

Like Amy and Patty, I loved The Book Thief - such a powerful story that
continues to linger in my mind's eye and ear. I'm wondering if any of
my middle school kids will like it - it's awfully long and for me was a
slow read as I had to stop and absorb. It wasn't depressing, just
"filling" so that I need to empty out a bit before I picked it up
again. I think maybe some of my 8th graders (I have the same students
6-8) may be ready for it.

I also read Lynn Cox's Grayson, which I thoroughly enjoyed. One of my
favorites this summer was Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by Wendy
Mass - I recommend it for middle school teachers and kids. I also
received an ARC of Adrian Fogelin's The Sorta Sisters - Adrian lives in
Tallahassee and has become a friend through Florida Council of Teachers
of English and our local Amelia Island Book Festival. I love all of
Adrian's books and Adrian herself too - this newest book is also
illustrated by her which is a special treat. Check out her web site if
you don't know her work - Crossing Jordan is a new classic, in my
opinion.

I've been reading like crazy and just started Jerry Spinelli's Eggs -
am awaiting my copy of Stephanie Meyer's Twilight so I can get in on
the discussion going on. I was slow to get it and then had to order
online.
