Patty - Funny you mentioned The Lightning Thief; I tried to read it and decided it was terrible after about 40 pages. Guess I wear my genre bias on my shirt sleeve! I probably did the right thing passing that book on to another teacher to review. :-) Too funny! Pam writes: I really enjoyed The Lightning Thief, so much so that I purchased the sequel, The Sea of Monsters.? Having said that I enjoyed them, I'm not sure how much the average 6th grader that I see will like them.? I'm worried about their lack of background in Greek mythology. I've also recently read Gossamer by Lowery - short but sweet and Heat by Mike ??Lupca??.? Heat was a wonderful read, especially if you have a high hispanic or male population!!? Chicken Boy (once I got past the title) was also a really nice and emotional read, both of my daughters enjoyed it too.? Hmmm, I know that I've read more, but titles just slip my mind.? I'll post again once I've looked at my book buying history at Amazon (lol - they'll refresh my memory and I'll probably buy some of these book ya'll have mentioned). :o)?
