The illustrated "King Arthur's Sword" which is timely with a movie coming out
now.? I saw one of my kids in summer school, and he told me he would now have
some "background knowledge" because of that?book.? He stated he particularly
felt good about sharing what he knew when the upcoming movie's preview was
shown on tv.? I had a class of struggling reader.? I was doing academic
intervention with Read 180.?

Another book students truly enjoyed was The Mighty.? Students were able to
relate to their struggles and differences.? You can go to booksource.com and
give the title or authors; it will indicate whether it's recommended as a? book
for struggling readers.?

Subject: [LIT] book suggestions

In the fall I am going to be teaching a middle school (grades 6 to 8) reading
class. This is a new class in my building for struggling readers. I'm
guessing
that many of these students do not know if they have a favor author or a
favorite genre. Can you suggest some books that your middle school students
(especially struggling readers) have enjoyed?
Thanks!
Jan
