Long, long time ago I hooked up a line on one of the reefing hooks on the 
boom to the crinkle on the head plate and down to the base of the mast to 
the cockpit, it worked like a dream every time (almost). Some times when the 
man came down faster than the line,
it would jam but still the main came down no problem. I just had to go 
forward and undo the knot.that was tangled up on the other side.
