Lew, If you have a bootable backup of your disk (boy do I recommend it!) then start over by disabling the auto update, uninstall I.E. 7, and only then install the SP3 update. DO NOT reinstall I.E. 7 just use I.E. 6 for now. It took me a week to do a clean install after I updated with I.E. 7 still installed. Now I am running with SP3 and I.E. 6 with no problems. I got to the third Microsoft phone service guy before anybody admitted there was such a problem, but there sure is!
