It's too bad that "This ole House" for boats doesn't exist.

Sounds like you would be a classic candidate.

My guess is that a total re-hab of your electrical system is going to be 
about the only way to resolve your problem(s).

If it were me, I'd start by collecting data.

Make lists of EVERY load device, every power generating device, as well 
as your batteries.

Once you have actual data, you can begin to think about a replacement 
system design.

Maybe it is time to think about adding solar or additional battery 
capacity?

Maybe it is time to replace/remove the eng-gen set, maybe not.
