The ring on the anchor was large enough to allow me to shackle a second
anchor rode to the anchor. Anchor was a 50 pound danforth set into mud.
I hung the anchor below my dinghy using a loop of rope. then rowed the
anchor out to a position approximately midships and abeam of my boat. I
cut th eloop to release the anchor. This eliminated the risk of
capsizing the dinghy while wrestling a heavy anchor over the side.

Both anchor rodes stayed fastened to the boat. When I got back on the
boat I then pulled in the anchor rode until it pulled the end of the
boat away from the concrete wall. Repeat for other end of boat.
readjusted as required. I had spring lines from inboard sides to the
wall. I did not use short springs on this occasion and did no tuse
the mid ships cleats. In this situation I only used the bow and stern
cleats. It gave me more freedom of movement up and down.

My boat was round bilged and in 3 foot beam waves rolled almost 30
degrees.
I ended up holding myself off the wall by about 6 - 7 feet. She still
rolled but didn't hit the wall. The boat was my full time home so I had
no place else to go.

I have also used this double rode to single anchor arrangement to
position the hull at a specific angle to incoming waves that were not
in line with the wind. Works better with longer than normal line -
maybe 200 - 300 feet of rode would do it.

regards
Arild
