I asked the person that has the dock across the canal but it's in bad shape and he is worried about my boat bringing it the rest of the way down. I am looking for something I can put out of the way and just keep there to tie to when I need it. Maybe a big screw anchor is the way to go if I can get it in there. If I can find someone who dives that can screw it in for me that would be good. I will work on that before the next storm. Then put some chain from that to a float so I can find it when I need it.

I'd use low stretch Dacron/polyester on the assumption that the lines would be quite long and Nylon would have too much stretch at that length. By the same token, if you placed conventional anchors off your beam, would they have sufficient scope to hold? Forget a mushroom! They are intended to be set and sink over an extended period of time. Therefore, they are very heavy and hard to retrieve without an "A-frame." Ron Rogers
