Have you tried other list to see if anyone needs crew? I belong to the
Island Packet list and there are several times a year people are need crew. I
will
include the email link in case you are interested. ipmail_ipsailor.com

Another suggestion is to google / ask.com for crew needed to Andros. I am
sure there are LOTS of websites out there that advertise/request crew members
to
 various locations.

Last year we went to the Bahamas, we left from Marathon and it took us about
24 hours to get there. We were very lucky to have gotten a weather window
from Punta Gorda, FL straight through to Bimini. Total trip time from PG was
approximately 48 hours. This was my first time over and it was GREAT! However,
coming back was another story. It took us 45 hours in the gulf stream from
Cay Sol. Needless to say our weather window shut early on us and it wasn't
pretty coming back. We had 12 foots seas crashing over the top of the boat and
high winds up to 40 knots and the stream was flowing against us. Everything
inside the boat was soaked from water coming in thru the dorades and anchor
lockers. Then we had to deal with large freighters, and cruise ships. And to
top
it all off, we blew out our mainsail.

You can't direct the wind, but you can adjust your sails ...

Anybody have any knowledge about Andros Islands in the Bahamas? My band got
asked to play a new years eve gig there and there isn’t enough
transportation and rooms available for everyone to go. I could sail over and
just stay
on the boat but I have never done any ocean sailing and if something happens
then I don’t make the gig and that wouldn't’ be good. I was thinking of
doing the discovery cruise over and back since that is $99 a person each way
and
seems cheaper than airfare. I think I could also get away with bringing more
gear that way. I would then have to get from Grand Bahamas over to Andros
and find a cheap place to stay either on Andros or Grand Bahamas.
Any other suggestions? Anyone planning to sail over that way around that
time that would want to take 2 people or sail over at the same time as me so
I
have a flotilla going?
Thanks,
Vern
