Anita,
That's interesting. I have some questions.
What makes this place outstanding?
Place names like Punta Gorda, Boca Grande, and Pelican Bay are often hard to
find on nautical charts. What is the lat/lon of the primary location you are
describing?
What is the draft limitation (the shallowest depth encountered) from sea to
this point?
Where does one go ashore? Lat/lon?
Is it safe to leave one's dingy there? A charge?
Is there car parking? Is it safe to leave one's car there?
What stores and other facilities are within walking distance or nearby?
Is there harrassment from the locals?
Since you keep your boat at a marina all these questions are probably moot but
when you live aboard they are vital..

We have our boat at Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda, FL. Upon returning from
the outside we enter thru Boca Grande and then it is about 3 hours to our
marina thru Charlotte Harbor.
There are several areas to anchor when you come thru Boca Grande. One in
particular in Pelican Bay. Once you come thru the pass Pelican is on your
right. It is pretty protected. We have weathered a few storms sitting in
Pelican Bay. There are also several more anchorages after you pass Pelican as
well.
