bella,
Thank you for your suggestions.
The trip from Jacksonville to Ft Myers around Key West is long and fuel costs
high fo move a 60 ton vessel.
My Mom requires constant attention which means one of us must be with her at
all times. I could not move the boat such a distance by myself alone.
Jan's family and the things she has to do are all in Jacksonville so she has to
go there from time to time.
Anchorages are difficult, finding a place to keep the dinghy while ashore and
the car when aboard is also difficult.
Thanks the info on for local anchorages in the Ft Myers area. If things change
this option may become more viable.
Bear in mind my boat is 63' LOA and has an eight foot draft; would this have
any effect on your suggestions?

Norm why not move your boat over to Goodland.. there is an anchorage there and
it will put you 30-40 miles at the most from Fort Myers.
You also, might see if they are still letting people anchor behind the mooring
field... go thru it southward and anchor there..
I have a copy, somwhere, of the Anchorages of SW Florida.. granted it is very
old... only one edition was ever put out..
But I do have it.. I might can find a few more anchorages closer to Fort Myers..
There is also a great anchorage just inside Venice Inlet. It starts after you
go past the Crow's Nest hang a right and follow the edges of docks to the
backside of the anchorage .. its pretty huge and safe... I think there are
some around Boca Grande as well..
if you want them I can dig out my copy of the book
