Norm, Don't you draw like eight feet? We left Charlotte Harbor largely because we found it difficult and we draw seven feet. Pelican Bay (26 41.135N, 82 14.508W)is not doable for draughts much greater than five feet. The only thing at Pelcan Bay is Cayo Costa State Park which is very beautiful but lacks facilities of any kind.
You would find a useful dink dock and parking in Punta Gorda at Fisherman's Village (26 56.245N, 82 04.403W) but you would have to anchor pretty far out and the anchorage is pretty exposed in Northwesterly winds. You would not be able to access the fuel dock there for water or diesel either. We bumped the bottom on approach at high tide. I think the Punta Gorda PD and FWC might prove difficult if you attempted an extended stay too. Don't know what things are like more down towards Ft. Myers. My wife's work drives where we stay and Ft. Myers didn't work for her. -- Philip McConnell Tayana 52, USSV Gryphon Fort Pierce, FL Norm of Bandersnatch wrote: > > Anita, > > That's interesting.
