I think this is not what you asked, but another option:  AOL now allows 
people to retain their Email account and AOL Login, even if they are not 
using AOL as their ISP.

So, you could leave all the AOL stuff in place, and just change the actual 
Internet service to the underlying Verizon DSL.

I helped someone move from AOL, and this was actualy a good way as he was 
'use to' the way AOL did things, so for him nothing changed.  Just he got 
faster (DSL) service at lower cost.
