I was refering to state registration ... wasn't that the discussion... name 3" high, hailing port 4 " high doc # has to be affixed to the hull in a manner that it canot be removed without significant damage to the boat.. mine is engraved, deeply, into the forward top of the water tank by the PO.
In Florida, only the reg sticker has to be displayed...I have seen many attached to the foot of the mast or in a window...
