Optimally, you would want to modify it to be controlled by an external
regulator. Deep cycle AGMs usually have a different maximum charge voltage
and always have a much higher charge acceptance (amps) ability. Therefore,
without a temperature sensing regulator, you could easily overheat an
undersized alternator. AGMs cost real money and I would baby them.
