The reason I am trying to change the kernel is because the kernel
used in 6.2-1 has cpqarray as a module and not compiled into the
kernel. According to http://www.mcnabbs.org/andrew/linux/proliant/ it
must be compiled into the kernel and not as a module. I am getting
the errors described on that page which means that I cannot access
the hard disks on my Compaq DL360 G2.
That's a workaround, not a solution (and in fact it won't help
reliably). The real problem is that the sym53c8xx driver wrongly
claims support for your device. The real fix is available at:
http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/jejb/scsi-rc-fixes-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=b2b3c121076961333977f485f0d54c22121df920
Many thanks for your replies. Is there any sort of cheat code or other
workaround I can use with 6.2-2? For various reasons I was really hoping
to get the server built today! In the meantime I will attempt to
remaster...
I have successfully managed a remaster - I just recompiled the kernel without the
sym53c8xx driver and then reproduced the iso. I do however look forward to the new
release!
