Thanks, so could one take the view that we now have a complete workaround? Meaning disable snapd, then poweroff via long press of the physical button. Then power on and enable snapd? Does that whole process sound graceful? Repeat the process on each poweroff/power on. Obviously, it is some hassle, but at least buys time whereby I can use the machine without knackering it until a more elegant solution emerges.
Also, I have posted to Ubuntu Discourse, and the two respondents are deflecting from the snapd issue. But so far scratching their heads to come up with an alternative explanation. So can I ask if you are sticking to your guns that snapd is issue? (Which makes sense to me, as we got further into the poweroff process once it was disabled. And I will try enabling and disabling to confirm.)
