It is entirely pointless to build a complex software "for beginners" -
especially in the open-source ecosystem.
What happens with programs "for beginners"? Beginners come and start
using the program. Then one of two things happens: they either get bored
and quit, or they get better, and move on to some more advanced
software. End result: we get no users (aside from always more new
beginners) --> we get no developers.
The harsh truth is: **MUSIC MAKING IS HARD.** It is, like any creative
pursuit, **SUPPOSED** to be hard. Everything is hard when you're new to
it, that's why we have schools and teachers to help people learn new
things.
If we make a software that professionals (or even semi-professional
hobbyists) want to use, then the beginners will come as well and will
want to learn the software. We shouldn't think of features on the basis
of "how easy it is for beginners" - because when you think about it,
people are beginners only in the beginning, but once they quit being
beginners, they will move on to tools and methods that stay out of their
way and let them do their thing most efficiently and fluently.
