I can't find the thread we first discussed this, but this is why I had
initially recommended a large drive with a large persistence area. The
dependencies can chew up a lot of space and storage is relatively cheap.
But the USB drive can really introduce issues that wouldn't normally be
encountered with a standard install. The idea of a live CD that is
read-only using a persistence area that is read-write can cause issues that
the rest of the Linux desktop users may never have encountered. :)
