Yes completely agreed. We will need help scabbing compat code back in. It
is a painful process and when lead from a team of unpaid developers, often
comes after the drastic changes have been made, but that is what beta
versions are for. :)
The community must understand that 100% backwards compatibility (or even
75%, 50%) will force the software to reach hard limits and will eventually
restrict growth.
I think we will reach a happy medium as long as both sides of the fence are
willing to compromise. We really can't afford to lose our developers or
our community so we'll have to try to be mindful of each others feelings
when we make certain declarations. :)
