Hi all,
I'm a programmer and I've contributed to LMMS in the past (multi-export
feature). I do think it is a bit more work to be a part of this project
because one must submit patches through the mailing list. I would really
like to see the source hosted on Github, as it makes it much easier to see
what others are contributing, the changes over time, etc.
I've wanted to work on jackd integration, but because it is not so easy to
get back into it each time, I tend not to do it. Also, as an open source
contributor, I can tell you most developers want it to be known that
they've contributed, as it helps them land paying jobs also. So with
Github, it is quite easy to see all of the open source projects you've
contributed to, so developers are likely to get some credit and benefit out
of contributing beyond just their making LMMS better for themselves and
others.
I've watched the debate over renaming LMMS, and I'm not in favor. The name
is fine, and I like the Linux roots. In fact, I love Linux a lot.
