Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Friday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day is
going well and I hope you’ll be able to join me tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm.
I’ll have all the day’s news and Lisa Gallagher will have the forecast.

Tonight on the programme, I’ll have the latest on that gas explosion in Hull.
And Hull West MP and Education Secretary, Alan Johnson, is in Hull, clamping
down on turkey twizzlers! Following on in the footsteps of Jamie Oliver, the
government is now banning all of the worst junk food in schools. I’ll be
speaking to him to try and find out where our children are really going for
their lunches. Are they going to the local chip shop and do they really want
turkey twizzlers banned from their school dinners? I’ll have more on that
later.

I’ll be meeting the man, who spends his days staring at clouds! He says
Lincolnshire is the best place in the country to kick back with your cumulus!
And tonight, I’ll be speaking to the comedian Ken Dodd. He’s still going strong
and is coming to Bridlington and Cleethorpes later in the year. Such a lovely
man and the jokes just keep on coming with him. I’ll be chatting to him later.
Plus tonight, I’ll have the World Cup widows on the programme, who are turning
to belly dancing in an attempt to coax their husbands away from the television!
Find out if they’re successful! All that tonight on Look North at half past
six.

Levy Letter

Don’t forget if there’s someone you know, who’s not signed up to the Levy
Letter, then spread the word and let them know about the daily email from me.
Or maybe you’re getting your first Levy Letter today after signing up over
night, then thank you very much indeed. And to celebrate that fact, I’ve got a
special competition, which is unique to the Levy Letter. If you are an opera
fan, then this will be of interest to you. I’ve got two pairs of tickets to
give away to see Rigoletto at Grimsby Auditorium. It’s a wonderful, vibrant
show, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. All you’ve got to do is answer this question
– who wrote it? Just let me know who wrote the opera, Rigoletto and email me
with the answer. Good luck and I hope to pick out our winners very soon, so get
in touch with the answer to the usual address of [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Sport Relief

As you know, Sport Relief is on the way. You must have seen the adverts by now
on the television. Well, we’ll be officially launching it on Tuesday on Look
North next week. There will be plenty of ways in which you can take part. I’ll
give you details on that on the programme soon. Before that, on the Monday
night, we’ve got another chance for you to get involved in Sport Relief. Do you
fancy meeting our sport team and our presenters here and help raise money for a
great cause as well? Make a note in your dairy that this coming Monday, the
22nd May at the Tigers’ Lair on Anlaby Road in Hull, we will be having our
Sport Relief Quiz. John Inverdale from BBC Grandstand will be there as well, so
you can come along and meet him too. You don’t have to be a sports expert, so
don’t worry about that. If you can recognise well-known BBC theme tunes or the
voices of famous sport stars, then you could win some of our great sport
prizes. There’ll be an auction too, so something for every!
one. Bring your family down and your friends. We’re looking for teams of up to
six people. So there’s no need to pre-register, just come down on the night and
enter a team. Paul Hartley will be live on BBC Radio Humberside from the
Tigers’ Lair between 7pm and 10.30pm. Come down and join us for a fun night on
Monday the 22nd May. The doors will open at 7pm and the quiz will start at 8pm.
I hope you can join the BBC Radio Humberside sports team for that one and it’s
all for a great cause.

Ben Nevis

The most bizarre story of the week, is the fact that a piano was found on the
top of Ben Nevis! Heaven knows how it got there. But it’s a great story. And
inside it was a biscuit wrapper, which said best before 1986! Although,
somebody tells me this morning that it was actually put up there by some
fellows from a charity carrying the piano up to the top of Ben Nevis
twenty-seven years ago. But I can’t believe that nobody has actually spotted it
before now. But that’s the bizarre story of the week.

Busy Mums

New mums get only four hours sleep a night and only one hour of ‘me’ time every
day. The lack of rest makes their lives more stressful than they ever imagined.
So says a new survey out today. Mothers also blame their added pounds on not
having enough time to exercise. Unlike Gwyneth Paltrow and other celebrities,
who lose their baby weight in a matter of weeks, most women are still
overweight fifteen months after giving birth. One in five have not lost the
excess pounds three years later, according to some research just out. So there
you are. New Mums have only four hours sleep a night and only one hour of ‘me’
time every day.

Pictures

Don’t forget if you’re taking any pictures over the weekend or if you’ve got a
photograph that you think would be just right for us to show on the programme
and if it’s a local view, then do send it in and let me see it. I’ll show it if
we can on the programme. Also, if you’ve got a problem that you think I could
help with in Leave it to Levy, then drop me a line to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Or
there’s our usual postal address of BBC Look North, Queen's Court, Queen's
Gardens, Hull, HU1 3RH.

Well, that's it from me for today. Join me tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm. Have a
very good weekend and look out for your Levy Letter on Monday.

Take care, bye

Peter
