Hello, its Peter here and welcome to Mondays Levy Letter. I hope your day is going well and I hope your weekend was good despite the awful weather. And I hope youre looking forward to the start of another week. Its a busy week this week, I think. There are a lot of things going on. Ill have all the days news tonight at half past six. Paul is away at the moment. Paul has a busy week this week as well, but Lisa will be with us tonight.
Theres just one thing I will mention. Wednesday is a very important day. Weve got a very special programme on Wednesday night, just after Look North is over at seven oclock. Paul Hudson will have a special programme talking all about archive material and all the stuff that the BBC has collected for years and years. Weve got footage that you can now get your hands on. But Ill have the full story on that later on in the week. So just make a little note in your diary for that one its on at seven oclock on Wednesday night. Tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm, I'll be looking at the massive number of arson attacks in our region. Fire fighters in Grimsby are saying that 90% of fires are started deliberately. That's a huge amount and I'll have more on this tonight. I'll also be meeting the Dads from Hull, who have got together to help clean up the city's drug problems. I'll be speaking to the Radio Lincolnshire and ex Grandstand presenter, John Inverdale. He's in the town today for the BBC's Sport Relief campaign. Find out how you can get involved with this on the programme tonight. I'll also have the first pictures of a revamped Lincolnshire tourist attraction, plus I'll have the first look at the beautifully restored window at Holy Trinity Church in Hull and of course, us Brits are always talking about the weather. Well, I'll be finding out tonight whether you've been singing in the rain today. My special guest tonight is Craig Revell-Horwood. He was the judge on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing programme and he'll be joining me tonight to talk about why he's in town to choreograph a new show at Hull new Theatre. I hope you can join me tonight. Older Mums Now, of course, we were hearing last week about the woman, I think she was sixty-eight, or sixty-five, something like that, and shes just announced shes going to have a baby. Well, the number of women waiting to have babies until their forties has nearly doubled in the past ten years. The figure has shot up nearly 7% last year alone according to official figures. The office for national statistics revealed that twenty-two thousand women over forty gave birth last year. Thats a huge rise from previous years. Thats the number of women waiting until theyre in their forties to have a baby. If youve got a view on that, then do get in touch. Also, if youve got a view on what youve had enough of, then let me know. What made me think about this was a little column that was in the papers yesterday in the Sunday papers. What weve had enough of! And then they listed things that irritated people at the moment. So what have you had enough of, let me know. The paper gives some examples companies offering loans for people to go on holiday, supermarket shoppers ahead of a queue at the checkout, who dont pull out their purse or wallet until the assistant rings up the total (in other words, wasting time and getting us frustrated as we wait behind them!), number three were motorists who neglect to thank us when weve let them out of a side turning, young men who plaster gel on their hair to make it stupidly spiky, and also sportsmen who talk about giving 110%! Anything else, that you want to add to that list, then get in touch. What are you fed up with and what do you want to add to this list? Get in touch in the usu! al ways. Dont forget if youve been taking pictures over the weekend then let me take a look at them. Although in this weather, I dont suppose youve been out and about as much as normal, but let me take a look at any good views or scenes youve taken recently. Get me direct at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sofa Thanks for the suggestions for people we should have on the sofa on the programme as guests. Keep them coming in. If youve got somebody you would particularly like to see interviewed on the programme, then get in touch. Obviously they should have some sort of connection either with one of our news stories or some sort of connection with the area. But do let me know and get in touch as soon as possible. And still, Ive been getting more emails asking for Maureen Lipman to come on the programme. I think weve got an open invitation to Maureen to come on the show. Shes an extremely busy woman and busy actress. But as soon as shes got some spare time, then I hope she will come and join us on the programme. For Sale Theres a house in London. Its a three bedroomed house and its being sold by Sven Goran Eriksson and his partner Nancy DellOlio. And people are being shown around the house. And the one comment that has come back from several people and that is the quantity of anti-ageing skin bottles scattered all around the master bathroom. Its not clear whether they belong to Sven or Nancy. But there are more beauty products in their home than in Harvey Nichols, reported one visitor! Whats more annoying, says one visitor, is that you cant even see the second bedroom, because its full of Nancys clothes. So there you are! The perils of being a well-known celebrity when trying to sell a house. The anti-aging skin products well do they belong to Sven or Nancy? Cher Well, to those of a certain generation, (ie mine!), Cher is somebody weve lived with over the years from sexy young singer to the star she is today. Well can you believe it, but Cher was sixty this weekend. She shows no signs of quitting show businesses. After a two year world farewell tour that earned her an estimated, can you believe this, ninety million pounds, shes about to open a permanent show in Las Vegas, which will net her another thirty-five million pounds. She says, Yes, Ive had a face lift, but who hasnt? Well, I havent, but then I equally havent earned ninety million pounds on a farewell tour! So thats Cher. Happy birthday to her for the weekend, when she was sixty. And talking of age, a new report shows that wine is the new favourite tipple of Britains health conscious over-fifties, but we are drinking less and less. Theyve also got one of the lowest consumption rates of alcohol in Europe at 7.9 litres a head. I dont know whether thats per week or per day or whatever. But wine is the top tipple for the over-fifties, but sales of drinks for the over-fifties is in decline. Well, I must get on, so have a very good afternoon. Join me for Mondays Look North tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm.
