Hello there and welcome to the first in this week’s Levy Letter. I hope you had
an enjoyable weekend and the weather didn’t dampen your spirits.

Golden Globes

The Golden Globes took place in Los Angeles last night and our home-grown stars
took home some of the awards. Kate Winslet won two awards. She won Best Actress
for her role in ‘Revolutionary Road’ and took home the gong for Best Supporting
Actress for ‘The Reader’.
As she collected her second prize she asked “Is this really happening?”
‘Slumdog Millionaire’ was named Best Film Drama and won three other awards on
the night. Other British recipients included Sally Hawkins, who was named Best
Comedy Actress for her role in Mike Leigh’s ‘Happy Go Lucky’. Heath Ledger was
awarded a posthumous Supporting Actor prize for his role as The Joker in ‘The
Dark Knight’.

his performance which left Graeme to skate away in the first week.

Baby News

Singer and TV Presenter Charlotte Church has given birth to a baby boy. The
baby arrived just after midnight on Sunday and weighed 7lb 5oz. Rugby player
boyfriend, Gavin Henson, was at her side as she gave birth at the couple’s home
in the Vale of Glamorgan. The baby is yet unnamed. A message was posted on the
singer’s website saying “Charlotte has literally just this minute phoned us to
let us know that she gave birth to a little boy today. He was born just after
midnight at her and Gavin’s home with Gavin in attendance at the birth.”
Congratulations Charlotte and Gavin!

That’s all for the Levy Letter today. Please join me for Look North tonight at
