Hello there and welcome to Tuesdays edition of the Levy Letter. I hope you didnt get caught in the big freeze which was predicted yesterday. I must say it did feel rather chilly this morning but not as cold as I imagined it would be.
Young Love Ive been reading today about two German children, aged five and six, who were stopped by police from eloping to Africa to tie the knot. The two young lovebirds, who have been identified as Mika and Anna-Lena, packed up their essentials; bathing costumes, sunglasses and a lilo and headed off for the airport. They even remembered to invite an official witness along, Anna-Lenas seven year old sister. They managed to get as far as Hanover railway station until police intervened. Police spokesman Holger Jureczko, told the AFP news agency the young couple were very much in love and had decided to get married in Africa where it is warm. The children got their idea for the wedding as the childrens families celebrated New Years Eve together and Mika told the two girls stories of a recent holiday to Italy. While their parents slept, the following morning, the children walked 1km to the local tram station at Langenhagen, where they jumped aboard a tram for Hanover central st! ation. However once in the station the trio aroused suspicion of a guard as they waited for a train to the airport, and the police were called in. Officers persuaded the children they would not get far without tickets and money. They were consoled with a free tour of the police station where they were picked up by their parents. How sweet! For more on this story head over to the BBC News website at bbc.co.uk Leona Lewis Ive also heard today that the pop star Leona Lewis has signed a book deal to tell her story about her journey as a pizza waitress to X Factor winner and international star. Leona said that the two years since winning the talent show has been an unbelievable experience. To have it documented in pictures and to be able to tell people in my own words how it feels means a lot to me. The book will hit the shelves in October shortly before the release of the singers second album. Leona added, I know the book will be full of special moments and Im already having a brilliant time putting it together. The book will include more than 100 behind the scenes photographs. Maybe something to put on your next Christmas list! Fawlty Towers star joins the Street Former Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs is to appear in Coronation Street, it has been confirmed. Weve been in discussion with Andrew for some time about a possible role, a spokesman told the BBC News website. The new character would be shown on screen some time later this year. The spokesman for Coronation Street would not comment on what role Andrew would play or how long he would appear in the soap. Sachs had previously told The Daily Telegraph that Coronation Street bosses had sent him a synopsis but that he could not talk about it because it is deadly secret and they would probably behead me. How secretive! I do wonder who he will be playing, Im sure Ill be tuning in! Thats all for the Levy Letter today. Please join me for Look North tonight at 6.30pm on BBC One. I spoke to author Joanna Trollope on my radio show today and tomorrow I will be chatting to singer songwriter Roger Whittaker. Tune in between 12pm and 2pm on BBC Radio Humberside.
