Hello there and welcome the last edition of the Levy Letter for this week. It’s
Friday today and I honestly don’t think it could have come quicker. It seems
that everyone around us is looking forward to the Christmas break that the days
just seem to blur into one. Have you got anything planned for the weekend? Or
are you just going to take the time to buy last minute Christmas presents? Good
Luck if you are attempting it this weekend!!

Burger Scent

I’ve heard today that the American fast food chain Burger King is marketing a
men’s fragrance with the scent of meat. The fragrance is called ‘Flame’ and the
company says the spray is “the scent of seduction with a hint of flame-broiled
meat.” If you fancy buying it, it is available in New York for $3.99 (£2.65).
Bargain!

Weekend Telly

Well with ‘The X Factor’ over for another year, focus returns to ‘Strictly Come
Dancing’ this weekend, with the live final on the screens this Saturday. Tune
in at 6.40pm for the final and the results show at 9.00pm. Rachel and Vincent
will perform the Rumba and a Foxtrot. Tom and Camilla will perform their
version of the Foxtrot and the Salsa and Lisa and Brendon will perform their
Foxtrot and their top scoring Cha Cha. If the contenders make it into the final
two they will perform a group Viennese Waltz with the other finalists and a
show dance. If you are all partied out with pre-Christmas festivities and just
fancy relaxing in front of the box this weekend then it is the last in the
current series of ‘Have I Got News For You’ this evening. The guest presenter
tonight is Jeremy Clarkson. BBC One are continuing with the comedy with the
second series of ‘Gavin and Stacey’ at 9.30pm. If your children are a fan of
the Jacqueline Wilson novels then you may want to settle down!
on Sunday afternoon to the adaptation ‘Dustbin Baby’ on BBC One at 3.25pm.
The story follows young April who sets out to discover her origins and along
the way, discovers where she belongs. If you are a fan of ‘Lark Rise to
Candleford’ tune in this Sunday for the first episode of the second series at
7.45pm.

iPlayer News

Now if you have a Mac or a Linux computer, I have some good news for you. I’ve
been reading today that the BBC has created a version of the iPlayer which will
work on both systems. The two systems have been able to stream BBC programmes
for a year, but now will be able to handle downloads. The BBC has been working
with Adobe and developed a new version known as BBC iPlayer Desktop. Those who
want to try the new player must first install Adobe AIR and then get the trial
version by signing up to be an iPlayer Labs tester, via the iPlayer site.

I do hope you will join me for Look North tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm. If you
can’t wait that long, join me for my radio show on BBC Radio Humberside between
12pm and 2pm. I will be chatting to Esther Rantzen about her time in the
jungle. If you miss it live you can always listen again at
bbc.co.uk/humberside .

That’s all from me today and indeed this year…I will be back again on January
2nd. This means there won’t be a letter for a couple of weeks and I’ll be back
with the next Levy Letter in the New Year. I do wish you a very Happy
Christmas and look forward to being back with you again very soon.

Merry Christmas,

Peter
