Hi Matt,
thank you for the clarification. Then I will no longer use the terms
Linux-Admin and Linux-Engineer in connection with LPIC-1 and LPIC-2.
Best Regards
Harald

Hi Harald,
I don't see a response to your question so I'll answer it.
Originally, LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 were created without additional names to
help keep them recognizable internationally and in as many
languages as possible.
Then, some well intentioned people convinced others to add those
titles that you mention. This caused a lot of confusion (and
acrimony) since the certs are useful and targeted to more job roles
than just admins and "engineers" (whatever those are ;)).
So, the names were dropped. They popped up from time to time after
their removal because it's difficult to remove things from years of
built up marketing and other materials... sometimes people dust off
old content and overlook dated information.
Currently, there are no job titles attached to the certifications and
their full names are "Linux Professional Institute LPIC-1" (and
...-2). If anyone did come up with a reasonable and inclusive name for
the certs, I'm sure it would be considered seriously. However, people
(including me) have been trying for a couple of decades without any
success.
Take care,
Matt

Dear all,
some years ago there was some information on the lpi.org
<http://lpi.org> website, that there where kinds of titles for the
certifications.
LPIC-1 was titled "Linux Administrator" and LPIC-2 "Linux
Engineer". I can't recall the other ones because I don't have a
lot to do with them.
Are this "titles" still in use? I can't find them anymore and I
think they are nice to have and know for exam graduates.
Best Regards and a late Happy New Year
Harald
