I do think you would be suprised. While you are right, for sysadmins just
a few years ago, it's not quite so true anymore. As hard disks (both IDE
and SCSI) continue to grow, and become cheaper and cheaper, even in
servers, RAID is becoming less and less popular, as it isn't as economical
as it used to be.
Many new Linux sysadmins aren't being tossed RAID by default, but only get
into it for specialized systems.
I agree with Scott here. I think that RAID would need to be subject to the
Job analysis survey.
