But, more simply put, "no."

I don't think any Microsoft credential is required.  You don't have to
setup a Windows domain to have enterprise-class network authentication,
SMB file services and DNS naming.  The MCSA/MCSE tracks teach you how to
use Windows Server administration dialog boxes and how to (often poorly
-- no joke) design a Windows enterprise network.
