Using a mouse maybe is too fundamental to test (though recent desktops seem to give their best to change that, but unfortunately there are no fill-in-the-gesture-exams yet :-)

As said above, I wouldn't test the GUIs concrete usage.But as the GUI serves as a gateway to the shell the MQC should know the role the GUI plays in his linux system. He should know that there is not "the one desktop", he should at least know about kde, gnome and maybe xfce and he should understand the relationship between the graphical environment and the underlying linux-system.
