a logitech serial mouse is connected to an old Pentium I. checked its BIOS
settings to ensure the serial ports are properly configured. Physically
checked the mouse is working, and the machine with the mouse works
otherwise.

the moment i boot the PC as an LTSP client under version 3, in runlevel5 i
see the mouse cursor in the centre of the screen, frozen. the keyboard
works fine. i can log in and even run apps, all off the keyboard, but the
mouse does not budge.

strangely, my lts.conf running on a redhat8, carries a [default] setting
for the mouse to this workstation. this setting is
X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL = "PS/2"
X_MOUSE_DEVICE = "/dev/psaux"

duh! this is a serial mouse.

in the [ws001] section of my lts.conf, the moment i try any combination of
the following :
X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL = "Auto" or "Serial" or "Logitech" and a few more, alongwith
X_MOUSE_DEVICE = "/dev/ttyS0" or S1, or mouse,

the X server does not launch, nd gives an error on the console, something
to the effect cannot open mouse, or file or directory not found.

could someone please help me out with this, please?
