Thanks, everybody. I think I have a decent enough understanding about this now to know what to do.
I appreciate the help. Unfortunately, I hit a brick wall, and I have to find a way over, under, around, or through it before I can actually implement what I want to do with it. I can't get the video to work on foxnews, and that is a big thing to my boss. He likes to watch the news. Everybody here watches video of one type or another, and flash is pretty prevalent, so I need to get this working. I think the problem is related to Macromedia Flash. It is not supposed to work on 64 bit systems, although there are lots of sites telling how to make it work. It gives sound and video for a fraction of a second, and then turns black, like it played the whole clip in that short time, or crashed. The strange thing is that I can't get it to work on my 32 bit-only workstation that is also using Suse 10.1. I get sound on it, but no video. And the flash animation on the Novell site works on this machine, but not on the server, so flash seems to be at least somewhat functional on this box. Other people have flash working on both 32 and 64-bit Suse 10.1 with no problems, so I don't know what the deal is. But I have to get past this before I can do anything else on the server. Jim McQuillan had suggested I try Ubuntu a few months back. Maybe I'll try it if all else fails. I have no idea what to do. Anyway, thanks for all your help. If anyone has also run into this and knows what the deal is with foxnews/flash, it would be really keen if you would share it with me.
