Squid doesn't cache DNS look-ups, only HTTP and FTP requests (except if it's Linux and is running 'nscd'). It's adviseable to run a caching only name server on your Squid box, or direct the Squid box's '/etc/resolv.conf' to a fast, busy caching name server. This will make a lot of difference if done right. Mark.
